All ‘mighties’ of the world choose…. Mercedes—and that is why Duchatalet chose it as a base for its art and craftsmanship. Magnificent, high-society, elite and a reputation of reliability as well as the prestige of the three-beam star. So the concept "A magnificent limousine for the serious businessman" for which it has become famous was born. 1968.

The first stage was the hand crafted lux-furnish of the top model of that period—The W116 S Class. Extremely meticulous, nocompromise. Duchatelet, with the top furriers and cabinetmakers created a new standard of craftsmanship with impossibly magnificent interiors.

On a wave of success "Carat" even became a small-scale manufacturer. The known collector The Sultan of Brunei was a customer.

Subsequently business developed from the W140 to its younger brother - the new model of the E-class, the W124.

Carat Duchatelet continues to be engaged in classical tuning—the amount of work is considerable,  a lot of effort, and the profit is insignificant. The emphasis is placed on quality, not quantity.
